Day of Faith and Hope
At Graceland Schools-Nyahururu, faith is at the heart of everything we do. Our annual Prayers Day is a sacred tradition that brings together students, parents, teachers, guardians, sponsors, and the entire Graceland fraternity to seek divine guidance as we prepare for the upcoming KPSEA and KCSE exams. This year’s event was a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity, prayer, and belief in the boundless potential of our students.
This year’s Prayers Day was nothing short of spectacular. Parents, guardians, sponsors, and the entire Graceland fraternity gathered on the school playground, which was transformed into a sea of anticipation and reverence. The atmosphere was electric, buzzing with the warmth of shared faith. The entertainment was beyond captivating, with performances that brought the crowd to life. Under the masterful guidance of Mc Masega, who had the crowd dancing and laughing, the day was filled with dynamic performances, all tuned to the theme of Scaling for Greatness.
Songs were sung, spoken words and poems recited, mashairis chanted, and skaters showcased their talent. Students from all schools exhibited their brilliance—future chefs, IT experts, engineers, and modellers all presented their items. The day reached its peak with the form fours from the three senior schools crowning the celebration with a vibrant Catholic song and dance performance, which hyped the crowd even further. The entire event was charged with joy and celebration, a true testament to the spirit of unity and excellence at Graceland Schools-Nyahururu.
Then came the heartfelt prayers led by Pastor Victor Kuria. His powerful words stirred the souls of everyone present, sending waves of comfort, courage, and strength through the crowd. With hands lifted and heads bowed, students and their supporters united in a moment of deep reflection, trusting in God’s plan as they faced the upcoming exams.
Pastor’s Word of the Day
In his inspiring message, Pastor Victor Kuria centered on the Key Verse: Hebrews 6:13, where it’s declared, “It is impossible for God to lie.” He spoke with passion about the unwavering nature of God’s promises, reminding the students, teachers, and parents that “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” His voice resonated with the crowd as he emphasized the reliability and dependability of our God. “The same God who has been with you throughout your journey is the same God who will be with you in that exam room. He is trustworthy, and His promises never fail.”
Referencing Psalm 89:34, Pastor Kuria boldly declared, “God says, ‘I will keep my covenant. I will not alter what has gone out of my lips.’” The crowd nodded in agreement as he explained that God’s word is unchangeable and eternal. “Even if your target is a mean grade of 9.0, remember, our God is more than reliable! His promises stand strong—He is with you every step of the way, and He does not break His word.”
The atmosphere grew even more charged when Pastor Kuria turned to Genesis 18:10, reminding everyone of the story of Sarah, who conceived a child at an age that seemed impossible by human standards. “What seems impossible to man is always possible with God,” he proclaimed. “Just as He fulfilled His promise to Sarah, He will fulfill His promises to you. Walk into those exams knowing that the God of impossibilities walks with you!”
He then brought the message full circle with Joshua 23:14, where Joshua, reflecting on his life, confidently declared, “Not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed.” Pastor Kuria urged the students to face their exams with a similar confidence, knowing that God’s faithfulness endures through every trial and challenge. “God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again. Every promise He has made, He will keep. Go forth with boldness, knowing that God has already gone ahead of you.”
Inspiring Words from the School Director and Manager
The event was further elevated by inspiring messages from both the School Director, Mr. Samson Mwaura, and the School Manager, Madam Grace Mwaura. Madam Grace Mwaura, with grace and authority, addressed the crowd, reminding the students of their unique potential. “You are all destined for greatness,” she said, her voice full of conviction. “What lies before you are not just exams but opportunities—opportunities to showcase your brilliance and to shine as the stars you are. Success isn’t just about hard work; it’s also about faith. Believe in yourself, believe in God, and you’ll soar higher than you ever imagined.”
Mr. Samson Mwaura followed with an equally moving message. His speech was a heartfelt one, filled with inspiration, encouraging the students to embrace their upcoming exams as a pivotal moment in their journey. He reminded them that greatness starts from within, urging them to believe in their potential and approach their exams with confidence and faith. Drawing from quotes by Chinua Achebe and Nelson Mandela, he emphasized the importance of mindset, hard work, and perseverance. He also highlighted the crucial role of parents and teachers in supporting the students’ success, likening the journey to climbing a mountain—one that requires both individual effort and communal support. He celebrated Graceland’s achievements in academics, sports, and ICT, affirming that the school has set milestones others aspire to follow. As the day concluded, he called on the students to trust in God’s guidance, reminding them that with faith, discipline, and the strength of the community, they will indeed scale for greatness.
A Day of Faith, Resilience, and Boundless Potential
The students were also blessed with anointed oil, a sacred gesture to instill spiritual confidence. In a moving display of ambition and determination, each student proudly held up their KCSE target, showcasing the goals they were working hard to achieve.
Finally, parents and guardians shared a meal with their daughters and sons, using the opportunity to discuss their performance at different levels. By 5:00 p.m., the parents and guardians left at their own pleasure, filled with joy and hope for the bright futures that lie ahead for their children.
The entire event was charged with joy, celebration, and the spirit of unity, making it a truly unforgettable day at Graceland Schools-Nyahururu. This Prayers Day was a celebration of faith, resilience, and the boundless potential of every Graceland student. It was a day to remember, one filled with light, love, and the unwavering belief that the future is bright for all those who trust in God.
Pastor Kuria’s words, the anointing, and the prayers that echoed through the crowd infused the Graceland family with the strength to move forward confidently, knowing that God’s promises are true and His plans are perfect.
The unity displayed by the entire Graceland community—spanning Graceland Primary School, Junior Secondary, Graceland Girls, Graceland Boys at Mairo Inya, and Ol Kalou Graceland (our mixed boarding secondary school)—was a powerful reminder that these young women and men are never alone on their journey. They have their families, their school, and their faith supporting them every step of the way.
