2024 Graduation Ceremony for PP2 and Grade 3: A Milestone of Academic and Moral Growth
By Masega Bw’Ombasa
Graduation ceremonies mark pivotal moments in the academic journeys of young learners, and at Graceland Schools, Nyahururu, we believe in celebrating these milestones with grandeur and purpose. The 2024 graduation for PP2 (Pre-Primary 2) and Grade 3 students was a joyful celebration of achievement, academic excellence, and spiritual growth, reflecting the values we uphold as a school.
From the outset, the event shone with enthusiasm, beginning with heartfelt prayers and spiritual messages led by Grace Wanjugu (3N), Olive Blessing (PP2), and Kyle Lucia (2N). This spiritual grounding is at the core of our philosophy—nurturing not just the intellect but the soul, guiding our children to grow into morally strong and academically sound individuals.
Throughout the day, there was a beautiful showcase of talent and learning. Grade 3’s Zuna delivered an inspiring speech, and Allaine Savanna (PP2) spoke on behalf of the youngest graduates, sharing their excitement and gratitude. Engaging activities like math presentations by Grade 1 students and spelling games with Grade 2 brought energy to the day, with highlights such as Ashly-M acing words like “school” and “graduation,” showing the academic skills they’ve honed.
In a moment of pride, the graduates made their grand entrance, symbolizing their readiness for the next stage of their education. Their journey was celebrated through encouraging speeches from key figures such as Headteacher Israel Taji (1N) and Manager Ashlyn Grace (2N), emphasizing our dedication to nurturing holistic growth—developing both intellect and character.
Headteacher’s Speech
In his speech, the headteacher greeted the gathering, saying:
“Good afternoon, esteemed parents, staff, and our wonderful students.
It is truly a special moment in the lives of our children and a perfect time to recognize the outstanding work of the entire Graceland community—our dedicated staff and the supportive parents who have made all this possible.
Looking around, I see happy smiles. Our learners are thriving, not just within the classroom but also in the enriching environment we’ve created for them. We are incredibly proud of how much our children love coming to school, eager to learn and grow each day.
At Graceland, we place great value on community, learning, and fun. Education is not just about reading and writing, but also about fostering love, friendship, and a deep connection with others. We are committed to equipping our learners with life-long skills that go beyond textbooks. This school gives children the confidence and strong foundation to take on challenges, to love learning, and to become active members of society.
Our Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) ensures that our learners are embedded with the core competencies needed to face challenges and succeed in the future. As Psalm 127:4 reminds us, ‘Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.’ Together, we are shaping these arrows for a bright and successful future.
We are excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a special boot camp offering activities like skating, chess, football, boxing, scrabble, ICT, baking, music and dancing, swimming, and more. Each activity will cost 1,500 KES.
Finally, I’m happy to inform you that the construction of our swimming pool is well underway, and it will be inaugurated in early December. We can’t wait for our children to start enjoying it!”
A Heartfelt Vote of Thanks
Following the headteacher’s inspiring speech, Ustadh Masega gave a heartfelt vote of thanks. He expressed deep appreciation for the incredible work of the teachers, whose efforts and dedication have paved the way for these young learners’ success. He extended his gratitude to the parents, whose trust in the school and unwavering financial support continue to shape a brighter future for their children. Ustadh Masega urged parents to introduce a friend to the school, further growing the Graceland family, and reminded everyone to be vigilant about the negative impacts of cyberbullying and the internet on young minds.
As the ceremony reached its peak, certificates were proudly handed out by Mr. Bahati, Director of Studies, honoring the hard work and dedication of each student. A lively cake-cutting followed, adding joy to the celebration, with children like Jane Njeri (3M), Hollydave (1N), and Shantel (3N) making the event even more special. Adriel Masega’s prayer for the cake-cutting and Favour’s (3M) smile during the ceremony left a lasting impression on all in attendance.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the 2024 PP2 and Grade 3 graduation at Graceland Schools was a beautiful reflection of our commitment to excellence in education, spiritual growth, and moral integrity. It was a day filled with pride, joy, and inspiration—a day that will forever remain in the hearts of our young graduates and their families, as they take the next step in their academic journey.
